Spring has Sprung
(April 01, 2014)
The toads think so anyway. Croaking can be heard all day on the farm ponds. A brace of red-legged partridge were strolling across the farmhouse lawns today.... Hopefully looking for a nesting site in the headland conservation teasels in the Ashes. Brimstones, over-wintered Peacock and small tortoiseshell butterflies were also on the wing. One rogue bluebell is emerging in tight bud. The men and tractors are hard at work having drilled the spring crops. We are used to winter sown crops, but the spring cultivations have provided excellent field walking conditions. The soil is now easy to walk on providing an unusual treat at Moscow Farm. Our cottage visitors have walked the lanes, and then relaxed with a cuppa in the conservatory, where they can watchthe Moscow Team at work.
